Kami Catherman started as a self taught artist in the small town of Hannibal, NY. At 25 she went and got a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Animation, from The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in Florida. From the age of 5 she loved to draw animals of all kinds for friends and family. Growing up watching Disney, she was influenced by the art and took independent art classes. She decided to become an Art Major in High School and expand into different art mediums. Taking 2yrs of Black and White film photography, studio drawing, and horticulture flower design. She won many awards and acclaim. In college she expanded her knowledge and skill for the different mediums including digital artwork, photography, drawings and paintings as used in the field of animation and fine art.
She is now more focused on fine art and combining her skills of drawing and painting. By drawing on paper then do a gel medium transfer on to the canvas for painting. The art is a mix of real and fantasy is to bring awareness to the role we play in the lives of all living animals. She wants to use her art to show the beauty and wonder of the world and the wildlife in it. From her many sales of her pieces she donates to organizations to help protect and preserve wildlife and environments. Over the years she has won many awards. Like in 2012 She was a finalist in Baterbys Art Gallery, artist Olympic competition in Orlando, FL. Some of her other awards are participating artists in the event 'Art Takes Time Square.' Where her art was displayed on a 9' x12' screen in New York City. She has placed 1st and 2nd SLAL’s annual photo contest many years in a row. And was one of SLAL’s showcased gallery artists. She continues to learn and expand her knowledge and love of art.
